2020 Volvo XC60
The Volvo XC60 offers three powerful engine options: the T5, T6, and T8. Our experts at Volvo Cars Lisle in Lisle, IL have highlighted the engine options.watch watch with
The Volvo XC60 carries on the Swedish brand's breathtaking visual makeover under the direction of design chief Thomas Ingenlath. With crisp lines, beautifully restrained surfacing, and a dash-to-axle ratio that makes it look like there's a longitudinal engine under the hood, this XC60 presents a more elegant exterior than the previous model. But a rising beltline, subtle haunches over the rear wheels, a more steeply raked windshield and backlight, lower nose, and a shorter wheelbase ensure the XC60 is still perceived as the sportier alternative to the larger XC Standard equipment levels are high, with all XC60s available with the nine-inch central touchscreen, moonroof, power front seats, leather on the seat surfaces, and a power tailgate. And, because they're Volvos, all XC60s come standard with an impressive list of safety equipment, including active systems that help avoid collisions, help keep you on the road, and help keep you in the right lane on the road, plus the full complement of passive safety equipment, from curtain airbags to whiplash protection. The two models tested here illustrate the bandwidth of the new XC60 range. The T6 Inscription ups the ante in terms of power and equipment.
Safety is not nerdy, and Sweden really is more than flat-packed furniture and catchy pop music. Yep, a lot has happened in the 10 years since the Volvo XC60 first arrived, and now a decade on the second generation of the mid-sized SUV is with us. Could the XC60 quietly be the best mid-sized prestige SUV on the road in terms of value, design, comfort, safety and driving?

Our Bursting Blue XC60 R-Design has seen plenty of road-trip use over the past three months, racking up more than 12, miles and venturing to mostly eastern locales. The Volvo also made a quick trip to Wisconsin; luckily, no cheese curds were left inside. The staff seems particularly fond of the XC60 for these long-haul driving stints because of its comfortable and supportive front seats and its suite of driver-assistance features that truly reduce driving fatigue. Other than one report of an unnecessary and jarring application of automated emergency braking, the Volvo's safety tech has been a welcome presence. Digital director Mike Magrath praised the XC60's semi-autonomous Pilot Assist feature after he piled on about miles. The system also impressed design director Nathan Schroeder, who said it provides enough assistance to lend a feeling of calmness on a long drive without being overactive and annoying. If you're considering buying an XC60 and long highway slogs are on the menu, we'd strongly suggest springing for Pilot Assist.
Borrowing interior and exterior styling cues from the larger XC90 SUV gives the XC60 a head start in the desirability department, but it backs up its premium, contemporary image with a long list of standard and optional features that elevate it above many of its rivals. Inside its spacious cabin, buyers will find upscale materials and thoughtful details. Technology is front and center, from the 9. An adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode is optional. Three different powertrains are available—all variations of Volvo's 2.
The Good Handsome looks, plenty of power, confident handling and a comfortable ride. Did I mention it has best-in-class cargo space, too? The Bad Infotainment could be improved. It can get expensive, too. Just go easy on the options. Be respectful, keep it civil and stay on topic.

The T5 and T6 designations take care of most of the differences while the other elements of the configuration refer to engine and drivetrain, with a few minor differences in some cases. The XC60 T5 Drive-E model has a horsepower, 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder and front-wheel drive. The T5 AWD has a horsepower, 2. The exterior of the T5 comes standard with fog lights in the front and rear, roof rails, LED running lights, automatic wipers, heated mirrors, automatic headlights, and inch alloy wheels.
